Montana Mayfly Tour - April 2006

The Mayfly Tour revisited.  We return for the second year of early spring fly fishing in Western Montana.  Join two seasoned veterans, two first time Montana adventurers and two wily Blue Ribbon guides for 4 days of wild west road trip trout fishing, food, fun and frolic.
Here we go again.  What's a trip to Montana without laundry drying on the front porch?

Morning 1 on the Beaverhead.  Richie sets the pace with a bright and early hookup - 3rd cast and the Trout are in the mood.

Day 2 on the Madison River.  In spite of the bright blue sky, your humble rodmaker convinces this chunky rainbow to munch on the some of that phony trout food floating down the river.

Hemi time - we made the trip from Ennis to Helena in record time thanks to the awesome power of the brand new Hemi truck.  Here we are set to launch on the Missouri for our first trip down this big river.

Missouri Brown trout on the bite! Another bright sunny day but the trout are still willing.  In spite of the tough (for fishing) weather we found a few of these big water - big fish guys ready to play.
Richie strikes again.  You may have noticed that on the Missouri the trout all seem to be well fed!  Compliments to the Dog for that well executed one hander - stay tuned.

No more one handers!  Monday morning on the Missouri a little bit upstream and the big guys are hungry.  Even our Montana rookies can't avoid hooking up today.  It doesn't look like Mike regrets missing opening day in Michigan.  Cam regrets ever leaving the Bearclaw.

Ralphie too!  This may have been the trophy of the weekend.  A solid 25+ inches of prime rainbow.  You can see why it took both guides to hang on to Ralph while he battled this big guy.

How bout another double, Dog?  Geoff adds another to the long list of his version of the Montana two hander.
