Probably one of the simpler Stone Fly patterns, I have had a few great evenings with this little guy. Little Yellow Stones are one of the more prolific hatches all over the country during most of the summer season and the simple profile of this pattern seems to put their minds at ease. Pay attention to the naturals in your neighborhood – the body colors often range from the pale yellow shown above to a shade of light green. A little ball of green or pink dubbing on the stern simulates the egg sack of the ovi-posting females and can occasionally help convince the wary trout that this is a snack they can’t pass up.
